BLINDFOLD YOGA -  return date TBC

WHAT IS BLINDFOLD YOGA? This is where absolutely everyone in the room (with the exception of the teacher) is blindfolded. The participants’ awareness is by default inward; they feel and sense their way with no aspirations to where they ‘should’ be (in a pose) or how they ‘should’ look (in a pose). With the absence of the vital sense of sight, the participants must depend on other senses. This will be challenging, but will stimulate a deeper awareness of their own practice; from focusing more clearly on their auditory channel (hearing) for instruction, guidance and balance, through to deepening engagement of the core for stability within a pose. Being blindfolded limits the impact of external stimuli within the room, that is usually visual.

Of the two classes that were held in 2020, some of the feedback included: 'A challenging and intense experience', 'I don't think I have ever spent so much time with myself', 'It made me think about how and what I was moving much more than I normally would, more relaxed and mindful as a result', 'The most intense yoga session I have ever attended. A beautiful experience, takes you all the way in to your body creating a sense of freedom and space' and 'So thought provoking - no distraction, just focus, so I felt really ready for the meditation.'

The Plan: We will hold a Blindfold Yoga class on the last Friday of each month from 7:00 - 8:30 pm at the Luci Trendle Yoga Studio (RG30 3UE). The TYA teachers give their teaching time free.

Participants will not be charged a set fee, but a donation to charity is welcomed. All donations for each class will go to the RNIB and/or a local charity for the blind.

BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL!! To book a space (numbers are strictly limited) please email Uddhava on uddhava@traditionalyoga.org

 GONG BATHS -
FRIDAY * MAY 2024 TBC

7:30 - 8:30 pm.  £15 - Spaces are strictly limited and booking is essential.  Contact me directly to book.

Gong baths are an easy form of meditation. You simply turn up, make a comfy nest and allowing you to immerse yourself in vibration and sound.  I feel blessed to have met Gong Master Sam from Peace of Mind who conducts the Gong Baths.

Brainwaves:
Beta brainwaves is the usual working brain state, with a frequency range of between 12.5 and 30 HZ. This is how we function in the world. In a relaxed state we can change our brainwaves to lower frequencies; Alpha (8-12Hz) daydreaming, imagination and associative thinking are all parts of alpha brainwave activity. Alpha brainwaves are present in states of relaxation. Theta waves have a frequency of 4-7Hz and occur during deep meditation. Theta brainwave frequencies are most often where the gong will take you. You will most likely enter a dreamlike, deep meditative state.

It is claimed that Gong Bath mediation can do many things such as relieve anxiety, help reduce pain, help shed spiritual layers and aids peaceful sleep. We, however, don’t make any claims about what our Gong can do for you, as it’s such a personal experience. We have had lots of amazing feedback from our clients, each confirming what we claim, which is to give the person receiving the gong, ‘just what they need, in that moment’.

Light refreshments and chat follow the Gong Bath.

Judy Claughton Dip BSOM from BalanceTime will be running more Meditation Evenings in 2024 on Fridays from 7:30 - 9:30 pm through the year - the topic of focus to be confirmed prior to the event.

Who are the courses for? Suitable for those who are new to meditation as well as helping those with some mindfulness or meditation experience deepen their understanding and knowledge and cement a regular practice. Our group size is limited to a maximum of twenty people to help you to ensure you have your own individual meditation experience. These classes held at the Yoga Studio are open – so you can choose to follow a full course or just book on one or two classes/dates that work for you.
